Sanctioned Events

With the increase in Faction and group events now happening outside the Curious Pastimes calendar, we felt it was time to put in place a system whereby groups could run events which had a direct relation to the main plot. To this end, there are three levels of “sanctioning” available for events.

Level 1:
Curious Pastimes gives kind permission to use the rules system within your event. Whilst the activities and experiences your character/group may have at this event may be included in your character’s ‘background’, the outcomes of the plot are not to conflict or otherwise affect the main plot at CP events. If you think there may be an issue on this matter you are advised to contact CP. If a conflict does arise between experiences at this type of event and main plot, the outcomes of a level 1 event will be ignored in favour of the main plot and cosmology. This level of sanctioning is appropriate for group-level events.

Level 2:
Curious Pastimes gives kind permission to use the rules system within your event. In addition to this, your plot will be examined by the Curious Pastimes Games Manager and approved to exist within the CP world. Any deaths that occur within an event will also be carried forward to the next CP event. Your plot will need submitting to the Game Manager at least two weeks prior to the event. A Curious Pastimes Game Referee will be required at your event with expenses for travel and accommodation to be provided by you. This level of sanctioning is suitable for faction-level events.

Level 3:
Curious Pastimes gives kind permission to use the rules system within your event. In addition to this, your event will have the benefit of foraging, alchemy and crafting research/production and a Ritual Circle (please note that if you wish to have a Ritual Circle active at your event, the Referee supporting your event will need to be a qualified Ritual Circle marker, and the rituals intended for the weekend must be submitted prior to the event). It may also be possible to support conjunctional magic, spell/skill research and other systems, pending suitable Referee resource.

Your plot will need approval by the Game Manager and will carry through into the CP game world. Any deaths that occur within an event will also be carried forward to the next CP event. A Curious Pastimes Game Referee will be required at your event, with expenses for travel and accommodation to be provided by you. Your plot will need submitting to the Game Manager at least two weeks prior to the event. There is an additional charge of £10.00 per hour administration cost for this type of event (note this is not per hour of the event, but per hour of administration). This level of sanctioning is suitable for faction-level events intended to significantly affect ongoing plot, or for events run by the Game Team Referees.

It is not Curious Pastimes’ intention to profit from sanctioned events, but we are obliged to cover our costs where they are incurred. Whatever level of event you think you might like to run, we urge you to contact us to discuss your ideas and any questions you may have. We want to be as helpful as possible in enabling people to run their own events, and we will be very happy to discuss the proposal with you.
